Youth Summer Mission

Come Serve with Us!

June 10-16, SOWER Work Mission

@ Epworth Center, Bethesda, Ohio

Week Long Mission Trip Experiences

Every summer the youth immerse themselves into a week long experience of service and fellowship.  The work is hands on, reflective of what it means to be the hands & feet of Jesus.  Projects range from building wheel chair ramps, to painting houses, and cleaning up Hurricane Katrina storm damage.

All who take part in these trips return changed and the greatest gift is having changed the life of another.

2008 Mission Trip

A group of ten youth and six adults went to G.R.A.S.P., Grand Rapids Area Service Project in Grand Rapids, Michigan, for an urban mission experience on June 22nd – 27th. We worked on two sites, making repairs and painting at both homes. We learned a lot from the interaction with the families and enjoyed great weather all week.

One youth expressed that he learned we can make an impact, whether it is doing work for, or just being there for others. The relationships between the youth and the chaperones grew and forged a lasting bond which will be remembered by both for a lifetime. We came away with another year of a job well done and a very rewarding experience.

2007 Mission Trip

During the week of June 17th - 22th, the youth group went to Epworth Center in Bethesda, Ohio to work with the SOWER Work Mission Program. We had 15 youth and adults working together on two projects. First we went to the home of a single woman and her elderly mother, where we installed a wheelchair ramp for her handicapped son. We also painted and did many .odd jobs. that were needed. The youth enjoyed interacting with our "client". She was delightful and so appreciative of all the work we accomplished. Furthermore, she shared her faith with us in a very meaningful way. We completed our tasks ahead of schedule, so we were sent to assist an elderly widow in her rural home. We completed many tasks for her including painting her deck and lots of yard work. It was an extremely rewarding week for both our workers and those we helped.

2006 Mission Trip

June 24-July 2, 2006, 14 youth and six adults went to Waveland/Bay St. Louis, Mississippi to assist with Hurrican Katrina relief. The devestation was immense. We worked at two sites, one .mucking out. and clearing debris from a home of an elderly brother and sister who had survived the storm and flood in their unfinished attic. The other group worked at installing drywall and subflooring in a home that had been flooded. Several evenings were spent delivering drywall to locations around the area in preparation of work. It was a long, hot week of very hard work, but it left memories of a lifetime to those who were there.
