It is with great joy that we present the new season of the WUMC Performing Arts Series! The WUMC Performing Arts Series was formed in 2001 as an extension ministry of Westlake United Methodist Church with a mission to bring outstanding performances to the Westlake community. With some strategic visioning after our tenth year, the series has reemerged with new energy and a mission of sharing the gifts of God with the community through the arts. You will notice that this year’s series features theater as well as music, and includes three performers that will stay over to lead worship the following day at WUMC. Come and join us to be a part of this exciting new year as we celebrate God’s gift of the arts!

Since its inception, the WUMC Performing Ar ts Series has played host to professional musicians, fine collegiate ensembles, children’s choirs, and Westlake United Methodist Church’s own outstanding ensembles. C4AP is one of few multi-racial congregations that authentically both works and worships with people in poverty. To learn more, visit www.4allpeople.org.

This year’s performance is entitled Lost and Found . The play’s content will align with recovery from alcohol and chemical dependency, including a 50-minute play followed by a moderated post-show discussion with the men. A visit to a small Episcopal church in New York led to an epiphany that launched a new spiritual direction for Fran.   WUMC CHANCEL CHOIR PRESENTS: Alice Parker’s Melodious Accordharps-small

  Andy Call, conductor
    Sunday, May 20 – 7:00 p.m.
The Chancel Choir joins with brass and harp in presenting this inspiring collection of early American hymnody. Subtitled “A Concert of Praise,” this collection is entirely based on hymn tunes and texts found in early editions of Genuine Church Music, a shape-note hymnal. The period from which they are drawn is 1832-1852. In singing this work, we are reminded of the rich tradition of folk-hymn singing and the heritage passed on to us through these uniquely American expressions of faith.
