Almost one year ago, March 3, 2010, we conducted the Kickoff Sunday to launch the Because We Believe Capital campaign. The goal was to conduct all of the necessary requirements to purchase the property adjacent to Westlake United Methodist Church, and to begin discussions around the short-term use of the property in the future. Countless caring individuals contributed their time and talents to support this purchase for the future missions of our congregation. Many more of us, along with our friends and family members, have made prayerful monetary contributions to make this dream a reality.
Our prayers have been answered, and we closed legally on the property on May 20, 2010. We have intiated the discussion of our options for the short-term utilization of our increased space, to increase the efficacy of our established and future missions. Approximately 170 individuals or groups have made commitments to our campaign, often in honor or in memory of people close to their hearts. The financial goal of the Because We Believe campaign was determined to be $500,000. To date, approximately $425,000 has been either pledged and/or donated toward our goal, with about 85% of those funds already donated. This generous giving should make our congregation proud.
The Capital Campaign remains open, and we are prayerfully optimistic that our goal of $500,000 will be reached. As we work together to fulfill God's purpose for this land He has entrusted to us, we ask that you continue to pay any monies pledged.
